LinX CGM – Frequently Asked Questions
This FAQ explains how to use the LinX App together with your compatible CGM sensor. It does not replace the Instructions for Use (IFU) that come with your sensor, and it is not medical advice. Approved age range, wear site, wear duration and safety limits are always determined by the labeling and IFU packed with your sensor for your country.
Six things to remember
- The sensor measures glucose in interstitial fluid, not blood. During rapid changes there can be a 5–15 minute lag behind fingerstick values.
- If your readings do not match your symptoms or expectations, confirm with a fingerstick blood glucose meter and act on the fingerstick result.
- Keep your phone within 2 meters (6.5 ft) of the sensor, with Bluetooth, notifications and background running enabled.
- Sensors are single-use. Do not reuse, disassemble or repair them.
- Remove the sensor before MRI, CT scan, or high-frequency electrical heat (diathermy) treatment.
- If you experience symptoms of severe low or high glucose, follow your treatment plan and seek medical help immediately — do not wait for the App.
SECTION 01About LinX & Compatibility
What is LinX?
LinX is a mobile App that receives and displays data from a compatible CGM sensor worn on your body. The sensor measures glucose every minute and sends readings to your phone via Bluetooth. LinX shows your current value, trend arrow, history curves, alerts, Time in Range (TIR) and AGP reports.
Do I need a separate receiver or reader device?
No. A compatible smartphone with the LinX App is all you need. Your phone must stay switched on, with Bluetooth enabled and LinX allowed to run in the background. Readings are transmitted automatically — you do not need to scan the sensor.
Who can use it?
The sensor is indicated for people with diabetes (Type 1, Type 2), abnormal glucose levels, or a need for frequent or continuous glucose monitoring, aged 2 years and older. Adults (18+) wear it on the back of the upper arm; children and adolescents aged 2–17 wear it on the abdomen, with a parent, guardian or caregiver responsible for applying the sensor, managing the App and responding to alerts. No prescription is required for home use. For pregnant women and other special groups, check the labeling approved in your country and consult a healthcare professional first.
What should caregivers of children know?
Children's glucose can change faster than adults' due to activity, growth hormones and varying food intake, and young children may not recognize or communicate low-glucose symptoms — confirm with a fingerstick before treatment decisions whenever readings don't match the child's behavior. Set a more proactive alert strategy with your healthcare professional, and use Share/Follow so several caregivers (both parents, a school nurse) can watch remotely with notifications on. Keep the applicator and used sensors out of children's reach — small parts are a choking hazard.
Are there people who should not use it, or should talk to a doctor first?
The system has not been evaluated in pregnant women, peritoneal dialysis patients, people with implanted pacemakers, or people with coagulation disorders or taking anticoagulant medication. People who are allergic to medical adhesive, severely dehydrated, have severe edema or circulatory problems, or cannot operate the system safely without a caregiver should consult a healthcare professional before use.
How long does each sensor last?
It depends on the model printed on your sensor box: GX-01 / GX-01S last up to 15 days; GX-02 / GX-02S last up to 10 days. The App shows the remaining days. When the sensor expires it stops automatically and cannot be extended or restarted.
How big is the sensor?
The on-body sensor is about 22 mm in diameter, 4.22 mm thick and weighs about 2.2 g — small and flat enough to sit discreetly under clothing.
What is the measurement range?
2.0–25.0 mmol/L (approximately 36–450 mg/dL). Outside this range the App may only show a high or low indication.
Does it support both mg/dL and mmol/L?
Yes. Go to Personal Settings → BG Unit to switch. Conversion: mg/dL ÷ 18 ≈ mmol/L. Choose the unit your healthcare team uses to avoid misreading values.
Can it connect to an insulin pump?
No. LinX does not connect to insulin pumps and must not be used for automated dosing decisions.
SECTION 02Download, Account & Phone Setup
Where do I download the LinX App?
Search "LinX CGM" on Google Play for Android. On iPhone, if the LinX App is not available in your region’s App Store, install it via TestFlight — follow our step-by-step TestFlight installation guide. Only use official links or the QR code provided with your order; never install the App from unknown websites or unofficial APK files.
Which phones are supported?
iOS 14 or later, or Android 10 or later, with Bluetooth, a network connection and at least 200 MB free storage. Phones that are rooted, jailbroken or otherwise modified are not supported.
Anything to know about registration and login?
Register with your own email address and keep your password private — never share it with anyone, including support staff. One account can only be logged in on one phone at a time. If you change phones, log out on the old phone first.
Which permissions must be enabled?
Bluetooth / Nearby devices, Notifications, Background app refresh, and network access. Camera permission is needed if you scan the sensor QR code. You can review these in Personal Settings → Permission Management.
Why do Android users need to disable battery optimization for LinX?
Many Android phones automatically stop background apps to save power, which interrupts glucose data and alerts. Long-press the LinX icon → App info → Battery → choose Unrestricted / Allow background activity. Menu names vary by brand (e.g. "Power consumption controls" on OnePlus). Also disable any "auto-clean", "deep sleep" or "pause unused apps" features for LinX.
Why shouldn't I force-close the App?
If LinX is force-closed it cannot receive data or send alerts. Keep it logged in and running in the background, and keep your phone charged and switched on.
SECTION 03Applying the Sensor
Where should I wear the sensor?
Adults (18+): the back or outer side of the upper arm. Children aged 2–17: the abdomen, keeping clear of the area right around the navel. In both cases choose an area with enough subcutaneous fat and avoid: scars, moles, tattoos, irritated or broken skin; bony or very lean areas; the waistband line; places you lie on while sleeping or that get bumped by clothing and door frames; and any spot within 5–7.5 cm (2–3 inches) of an insulin injection or infusion site. Rotate to a different spot each time.
How do I prepare the skin?
Check the package is intact and not expired. If the area is hairy, trim with scissors (do not shave). Wash with plain soap, dry, then clean an area at least 5 cm across with a medical alcohol wipe. Let the alcohol dry completely before applying — do not apply on skin with lotion, sunscreen or body oil.
How do I apply the sensor?
Keep the box (you will need the SN printed on it). Unscrew the applicator cover and set it aside — never touch or look inside the applicator, it contains a needle. Press the applicator opening firmly and vertically against the prepared skin, then press the button. After you hear the spring click, wait a few seconds, then lift the applicator straight away from the skin. Press the adhesive patch from the center outward for about 30 seconds to remove wrinkles and air bubbles. The needle retracts automatically into the applicator — do not reattach the applicator to the sensor or reuse it.
Is slight bleeding after insertion normal?
Minor bruising or a small spot of blood can occur. If bleeding persists, remove the sensor and apply a new one at a different site. If you have significant pain, swelling, or suspect the sensor tip has broken under the skin, do not remove it yourself — seek medical help.
How soon will I see readings?
After pairing, the sensor warms up for about 1 hour. When warm-up finishes, the Home screen starts showing readings updated every minute.
Do I need an over-patch (adhesive tape)?
Not everyone. If you sweat a lot, exercise heavily, or the patch edge starts lifting, apply an over-patch on top of the well-adhered sensor: peel part of the backing, center the opening over the sensor, and smooth it down gradually without pulling the sensor up. An over-patch prevents falling off — it cannot fix a sensor that has already loosened or shifted.
Can I exercise right after applying?
Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for 1 hour after insertion, and avoid repeated pressing, twisting or knocking the sensor area throughout the wear period.
SECTION 04Pairing & Device Management
How do I pair a new sensor?
Enable Bluetooth and the required permissions, then tap Pair on the LinX Home screen. Select the device whose SN matches the one printed on your sensor box, or scan/enter the SN when prompted. Confirm and wait for warm-up to finish. Always pair from inside the LinX App — do not pair the sensor manually from the phone's system Bluetooth menu.
The App finds several serial numbers — which one do I pick?
Only select the SN that exactly matches your box. Move any unused sensors away from the phone and search again to reduce confusion.
It says the sensor is occupied by another account.
The sensor is still bound to a previous account or phone. Unpair it from the original account first, then pair with the new account. If you cannot access the original account, contact support — do not keep creating new accounts.
The App cannot find my sensor at all.
Try, in order:
- Bring the phone within 2 meters of the sensor.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on again. (Android: after using airplane mode, double-check Bluetooth is back on.)
- Restart the LinX App, then the phone.
- Check Nearby devices / notification / background permissions and network.
- Android: set LinX's battery usage to Unrestricted.
- If the sensor's SN appears in the phone's system Bluetooth list as a paired device, tap "Forget this device" there, then search again inside LinX.
- If it still fails, upload your log (see Troubleshooting) and contact support.
How do I see previously paired sensors?
Open My Devices from the personal settings page. You can unpair the connected sensor there; a sensor that is no longer connected can be deleted permanently.
SECTION 05Readings & Calibration
Why is my CGM reading different from my fingerstick meter?
CGM measures glucose in interstitial fluid; a blood glucose meter (BGM) measures capillary blood. When glucose changes quickly (after meals, insulin or exercise) the CGM typically lags 5–15 minutes behind. Occasional differences are normal. Pressure on the sensor while sleeping, a loose patch, dehydration, unwashed fingers or test-strip variability can all make the gap look bigger.
The reading doesn't match how I feel — what should I do?
Wash and dry your hands, then test with a reliable fingerstick meter. If you have symptoms, act on the fingerstick value and your treatment plan, not the CGM value. If the mismatch persists, check whether the sensor is loose, pressed on or has been knocked, and contact support.
Readings seem low or unstable in the first 1–2 days.
Some users see temporarily lower or fluctuating readings shortly after insertion, caused by the body's normal local reaction to the newly inserted sensor filament. This usually settles within 48–72 hours. Do not chase single fingerstick values with repeated calibrations during this period — if you calibrate while the readings are temporarily low, they may read high once the effect wears off. Use fingerstick values for decisions, and calibrate (if needed) once your glucose is stable.
Do I need to calibrate every day?
No. The sensor is factory-calibrated. Consider calibrating only if readings are consistently more than about 20% higher or lower than proper fingerstick measurements (confirmed by a second fingerstick about 2 hours later), or clearly inconsistent with your symptoms.
How do I calibrate correctly?
Open the Fingerstick BG tab at the bottom of the LinX App, enter your value and tap Calibrate:
- Use clean, dry hands, in-date strips and a reliable meter.
- Pick a moment when your trend arrow is flat — not rising or falling rapidly.
- No carbohydrates or insulin in the 15 minutes before calibrating.
- Enter the fingerstick value within 5 minutes of measuring it.
The Calibrate button stays greyed out for the first hours after a new sensor is inserted, and routine calibration is not recommended during the first 24 hours.
Why was my calibration rejected, or the value didn't change to my input?
If glucose is changing fast, the entered value differs too much from the sensor value, or the fingerstick is too old, the algorithm may reject the calibration. Adjustment is also progressive — the CGM value moves gradually rather than jumping to your entered number. Both behaviors are normal. Don't repeat calibrations back-to-back; wait until glucose is stable and compare again.
When must I use a fingerstick instead of the CGM?
Whenever the App shows low or near-low glucose; when you have low-glucose symptoms (shakiness, sweating, palpitations, confusion) even if the App looks normal; when readings don't match your symptoms or experience; during data gaps, rapid changes, or severe dehydration; and any time you are unsure before making a treatment decision.
SECTION 06Alerts, Sharing & Reports
I'm not receiving alerts.
Check that the alert is switched on in Alert Settings; the phone is within 2 meters of the sensor; Bluetooth, notifications, sound/vibration are on; LinX has not been force-closed and can run in the background; Android battery is set to Unrestricted; and the phone is not in silent/Do-Not-Disturb mode or routing sound to headphones you are not wearing. Alerts are an aid — they cannot be guaranteed to reach you in every situation, so do not rely on them alone.
Alerts are too frequent.
Your thresholds may not suit you. Discuss appropriate high/low alert values with your healthcare professional rather than setting thresholds to unsafe levels just to silence alerts.
Will I lose data if the phone disconnects?
For short disconnections the sensor temporarily stores readings and uploads them automatically when the connection is restored. Reconnect as soon as you can — temporary storage is limited.
Can I log meals, exercise, medication or fingerstick results?
Yes — use the Event tab to log carbs, exercise, medicine, insulin and other events, and the Record function on the Fingerstick BG tab to log meter results. Records appear on your glucose curve and history. Recording a fingerstick value is not the same as calibrating.
How do I generate an AGP report?
Open the Trends tab, choose the date range, and tap the report icon in the top-right corner. LinX generates an AGP chart and a full PDF report you can download or share. Ask your healthcare professional to help interpret AGP, estimated HbA1c, average glucose and TIR.
Can family members or my doctor see my data?
Yes. Go to Personal Settings → Share/Follow to invite followers. Followers can see readings in real time and also receive your glucose alerts — useful for parents, partners and school nurses. Both sides need a stable internet connection and the App running in the background. Only share your health data with people you trust.
Does LinX work with Apple Watch?
The latest LinX manual adds watch support: Apple Watch requires watchOS 10 or later, and a dedicated Android-watch app also exists. Availability depends on your LinX App version and region — check the watch section of your manual or ask support before relying on it. The watch shows your recent glucose value and trend, but don’t use it as your only alert device — keep your phone with you as the primary receiver.
Can LinX connect to Apple Health or other apps?
LinX does not currently offer consumer integrations such as Apple Health. For clinics, the Share with Pancares Account option in personal settings links your data to the Pancares platform used by healthcare professionals. Never use unofficial tools or modified apps to forward CGM data for automated dosing or emergency decisions.
SECTION 07Daily Life: Showering, Sleeping & Medical Procedures
Can I shower or swim with the sensor?
The sensor is rated IP68 and can be worn in the shower or while swimming, but do not take it deeper than 2 meters or keep it underwater for longer than 1 hour (always confirm with the labeling packed with your sensor). Avoid long hot baths, saunas and diving, and keep shower gel, oils and lotions off the adhesive. Pat dry and check the patch afterwards.
Anything to watch out for while sleeping?
Try not to lie on the sensor for long periods — pressure can cause temporarily low readings or signal loss. Choose an application site that you don't sleep on, and check the patch morning and evening.
What about MRI, CT or other medical procedures?
Remove the sensor before MRI, CT scans, high-frequency electrical heat (diathermy) treatment, electrocautery or electrosurgery. Never take it into an MRI room. Apply a new sensor after the procedure — a removed sensor cannot be re-worn.
Can medication or my condition affect readings?
Yes. Taking more than the maximum dose of acetaminophen/paracetamol (over 1 g every 6 hours in adults) can make readings falsely high. Very high blood uric acid can reduce accuracy, and hydroxyurea significantly interferes with measurements. Severe dehydration or prolonged heat exposure can also cause inaccurate results. If any of these apply, verify with fingersticks and talk to your healthcare professional.
SECTION 08Troubleshooting & Support
The App shows no data or an error.
Keep the phone within 2 meters; check Bluetooth, network, permissions and background running; restart the App, Bluetooth, or the phone. Short "sensor error / please wait" messages usually clear by themselves once readings stabilize. If there is still no data or the error lasts about 4 hours or keeps recurring — or the sensor is also loose, painful or bleeding — use fingersticks for decisions and contact support.
How do I upload my App log?
Go to Personal Settings → Local Log and follow the prompts. This helps engineers diagnose connection problems on specific phone models. After uploading, still send your problem description, screenshots and sensor SN to support — the log alone does not open a support ticket.
The adhesive patch is coming loose.
If only the edge is lifting and the sensor is still firmly in place, press the edge down or add an over-patch. If the sensor body is loose, the tip may have left the skin, readings are abnormal, or it has fallen off completely, stop using it — a detached sensor must not be re-applied.
How do I remove and dispose of the sensor?
Lift the edge of the adhesive and peel slowly along the skin in one motion. Remove any adhesive residue with warm soapy water or alcohol. The sensor contains a small non-removable battery and the applicator contains a retracted needle — put the cover back on the applicator and dispose of both according to your local rules for sharps/medical and electronic waste. Never incinerate.
What should I prepare before contacting support?
To speed things up, include in one message:
- Order number and the country you're in;
- Phone brand/model, OS version, LinX App version;
- Account email (never your password);
- Sensor model, SN, LOT and expiry date (photo of the box label is ideal);
- When you applied the sensor and when the problem started;
- Screenshots or screen recording of the issue, and a photo of the sensor on your body;
- What you have already tried;
- For accuracy complaints: at least 3 CGM-vs-fingerstick comparisons taken while glucose was stable, with times and trend arrows;
- Whether you have uploaded the App log, and when.
Will I get a replacement if something goes wrong?
Sensor issues are reviewed case by case based on the evidence above and the applicable warranty/return policy. Please keep the sensor box, SN/LOT label, proof of purchase and photos until your case is resolved.
